ESPN Analyst Believes Patriots ‘Absolutely’ Could Trade For Falcons Draft Pick

The New England Patriots can easily go up and down the draft board to get what they need. Head coach Bill Belichick was really aggressive in free agency and he will probably take the same approach in the upcoming draft. According to an ESPN analyst, the Patriots may trade up the board to get the Atlanta Falcons draft pick.

The Falcons have the No.4 overall and this is a game-changer for the team. Most experts believe that three quarterbacks will find homes from the start. Trevor Lawrence will join the Jacksonville Jaguars and Zach Wilson is going to the New York Jets. Mac Jones, Justin Fields, or Trey Lance will join the San Francisco 49ers. San Francisco agreed to a trade deal with the Miami Dolphins to get the No.3 pick. So, will the Falcons do the same to get Matt Ryan’s successor?

If not, the Falcons may trade back and do business with a team looking for a quarterback. The Patriots may jump in.

“Absolutely,” ESPN’s Marcus Spears said Wednesday on “Get Up” when asked whether Bill Belichick could trade up from No. 15 to No. 4. “Did you see what he did in free agency? This is a get-fixed now (situation) for (Bill Belichick). If that opportunity presents itself, and he can find a way to get up there to get his quarterback of the future, with bringing in Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry and trying to recreate this offense for Josh McDaniels, you’re damn right he’s going to do it and figure out a way to get it done.”

Patriots head coach to trade with the Falcons for their draft pick

San Francisco traded the No. 12 pick, a first- and third-round pick in 2022 and a first-round pick in 2023 to get the No.3 pick. Will Belichick offer a similar package?

Belichick is a guy who trades down in the NFL draft. But, the Patriots had a wild offseason and their draft moves may be even wilder.

There have been plenty of stories about Belichick’s strategy. He has a surprise for us all.
