Ex-NFL WR Advises Patriots To Do ‘Whatever It Takes’ To Draft This Quarterback

The 2021 NFL Draft is already here. The New England Patriots are set to make a move, and they will probably draft a quarterback. I mean, head coach Bill Belichick signed Cam Newton to a one-year deal. He trusted the 2015 NFL MVP enough to give him another chance. Well, Belichick will probably move on and bring another quarterback to New England. He will sure get one of the best prospects in the class.

How will things go on Thursday night? The Patriots have the No.15 overall. All the good names will be selected by that point of the draft. Of course, the Patriots may trade up and down to get the players they need. New England may target another position halfway through the first round. They may also trade down.

The Patriots to draft the best quarterback

Most NFL experts believe the Patriots will move up the draft board. Former NFL wide receiver Nate Burleson says the team should trade up for the quarterback with the highest ceiling in the group.

“There are a few teams that are looking to get their quarterback of the future on Thursday evening,” Burleson wrote for NFL.com. “The New England Patriots are one of them. Holding the 15th overall pick, the Patriots must make a significant move to ensure they draft the quarterback of their choosing. If I’m making the call, and if Trey Lance gets past San Francisco at No. 3, I’m doing whatever it takes.”

Ian Rapoport from NFL Media said the San Francisco 49ers are down to Lance and Mac Jones for the third overall pick. The 49ers traded in the first round in order to get the player they want.

New England may prefer the signal-caller who is set to slide on Day 1 of the NFL Draft. The Patriots have been making a lot of calls about going into the top 10 in order to get Justin Fields.

The team has signed a lot of great players in free agency. Belichick is targeting several top prospects. The only thing we can do is sit and wait.
