Jarrett Stidham Making Strong Push to Take Cam Newton’s Spot

Talented Jarrett Stidham is making a push to be the starting quarterback for the New England Patriots in 2021. The team game Cam Newton another chance to make the playoffs. However, head coach Bill Belichick has yet to make a decision on his signal caller. He trusted Newton enough to give him another deal, but it won’t be that easy for him. Stidham is here and the team will make the right decision.

Newton and Stidham attended voluntary workouts earlier in April. The 2015 NFL MVP is the favorite to keep his spot as a starting quarterback. Well, Stidham still looks like someone who is ready to play his best football.

Jarrett Stidham to make a push for the starting job

Mike Giardi from NFL Network has something interesting to say about Stidham and the impression he made on Belichick and his staff.

“There is a pretty good feeling about what Jarrett Stidham has done over the course of this offseason. They like sort of his demeanor right now, they feel like there’s a bit more urgency to his operation, if you will. He’s the one who organized the workouts on the West Coast earlier this offseason. Maybe Jarrett Stidham is saying, ‘I’m not done just yet; this isn’t Cam’s job just yet.’”

Will Newton get the starting job? Will he compete with Stidham in training camp?

The Patriots selected Stidham in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He was set to be the perfect replacement for Tom Brady? Belichick didn’t really like Stidham and he got Newton and Brian Hoyer.

Newton won the job and Stidham went all the way to the third string. He was given a chance to shine, but failed to do so.

Stidham completed just 22 of 44 passes for two touchdowns and three interceptions. He is unable to take care of the football and this caused the lack of movement up the depth chart.

If Stidham fails to perform great in training camp, Belichick may remove him from the roster. The young quarterback turns 25 and his clock is ticking.
