JC Jackson Hints At Patriots Contract Dispute In New Instagram Story

JC Jackson and his New England Patriots contract are making headlines again. Are we predicting tension between the talented player and New England?

The veteran took to his Instagram stories early Sunday morning to drop a hint at the potential contract dispute with the team. Jackson is one of the best cornerbacks in the league. He is a restricted free agent who will become unrestricted free agent in a year. Jackson and the Patriots haven’t reached an agreement on the potential contract extension.

“Gotta feed the fam,” Jackson wrote. “This bigger than me.”

JC Jackson to lose his Patriots contract

What does that mean? Providence Journal reporter Mark Daniels shared a screenshot and offered his take on the current situation.

According to Daniels, Jackson said he is working hard to boost his value. He believes that Jackson will play this year on his tender. Moreover, Jackson will probably become free agent in 2022. Jackson has a big chance to make generational wealth with another great season. Jackson is well aware of this.

The Patriots placed a second-round tender on the cornerback. In other words, any team that signs the veteran to an offer sheet would have to compensate the team with a second-round draft pick. The 25-year-old is a great player and New England needs him. But, NFL teams have shown interest in his skills, too.

New England has the ability to match other teams’ offer sheet for the cornerback.

NFL teams place first-round tenders on players they plan to keep at all costs. The Patriots’ decision to use a second-round tender was considered as an indication the organization might be ready to move on from the cornerback. Well, this may be speculation.

Jackson signed with the team in 2018. He was an undrafted agent and Bill Belichick was really impressed with his skills. He had 17 interceptions in his first three years with the team. In 2020 he had nine.

Jackson is a valuable player for the Patriots and Belichick may try to keep him. Let’s wait and see what happens next.
