Marc Gasol Shares Revealing Comments About Future With Lakers

Marc Gasol joined the Los Angeles Lakers for a reason and now he made some eye-opening comments on his future with the team. The 36-year-old is going through a roller coaster.

Gasol was part of the Lakers starting lineup in his first 38 games with the team. He returned to the floor after an exhausting bout with coronavirus. His entire family got the virus. His role was reduced as the Los Angeles Lakers signed Andre Drummond. The former Cleveland Cavaliers center was part of pretty much every speculation in the offseason.

Head coach Frank Vogel said that Gasol had a key role with the team. Gasol is averaging 4.8 points and 3.9 rebounds with the team.

The Lakers pushed Gasol to the field after Drummond suffered an injury in his debut with the team. The Spanish native played well, but the Lakers lost the game. Gasol was part of the starting five on Friday, too. He had one of the best performances in the season. LA celebrated a 115-94 win over the Kings.

In his postgame press conference, Gasol talked about his week.

“The way it looks,”he said. “Things get thrown at you and you have to adapt as quick as possible. And as you can imagine [sigh], it is what it is.”

Marc Gasol has questions for his future with the Lakers

Will he remain with the Lakers?

“Things can change quickly in the NBA, just as they have changed for me. But I’m committed to this team. It’s a hard pill to swallow because I know I’m going to be out of the lineup at some point. It’s never easy on a player…But, we’ll see.

“When I signed with the team, it was to help the team, especially the two main guys. I don’t think that has changed.”

Head coach Vogel talked about Gasol’s performance as he hit one of the best collective defense efforts on the season.

“I think people need to understand how good of a player Marc Gasol is and how important he is to what we’re doing,” Vogel said.”He dominated the game tonight with 5 points…He’s a dominant defensive big.”

The head coach talked about Gasol’s character and his contribution ahead of the game.

“That’s still gonna be the mindset for him every night: to be available and ready,” Vogel said pregame. “He’s one of our better players…If we need to him play, we’re gonna throw him in there…It’s just a testament to Marc’s character.”
