NFL Analyst Predicts Patriots To Trade Up In First Round, Draft Quarterback

Will the New England Patriots trade up the NFL Draft to get their quarterback of the future?

Several reports suggest that the Atlanta Falcons would try to do business in the NFL Draft. Peter Schrager says that the Patriots will take advantage of the situation in order to get what they want.

The Falcons will listen to trade offers for their No.4 overall pick in the upcoming draft. Day 1 will be really big and head coach Bill Belichick will take a different approach. The top quarterback prospects will be selected with the first picks.

Patriots to trade and draft a top quarterback prospect

New England really needs a quarterback. They have Cam Newton but Belichick has to think of the future. Schrager said that Belichick and his team will move up 11 spots in the first round to get one of the best prospects in the group. Justin Fields is a good target, right?

“This would be a trade that rocks the NFL, but I don’t think it’s too crazy,” Schrager wrote for NFL.com. “The Patriots don’t envision having a pick as high as they currently do (15th) anytime soon, and this is their year to make a big move if they’re ever going to get their blue-chip QB to develop. Fields was a highly recruited player who performed on the biggest of stages. This year’s first- and second-rounder (No. 46) plus next year’s first and third could be enough for New England to get Atlanta to move back 11 spots.”

If the Patriots want to get one of the best quarterbacks in the draft, they will have to choose between Fields and Trey Lance. Trevor Lawrence will probably go to the Jacksonville Jaguars for their No.1 pick. Zach Wilson is probably going to the New York Jets. The San Francisco 49ers got the third overall pick from the Miami Dolphins and they are going after Mac Jones.

Lance may be a good option for the Patriots, but Fields is a better fit for the team. He is a good fit for the new offense.
