Niners’ Astronomical Asking Price for Jimmy Garoppolo Revealed

Is Bill Belichick willing to pay the high asking price for Jimmy Garoppolo? The New England Patriots have been linked to the veteran quarterback for quite some time.

Albert Breer from Sports Illustrated answered a mailbag question about the veteran quarterback and his asking price.

Is Garoppolo worth all the money? Would NFL teams give up a first-round pick just to get him? The answer is “no.”

“I was told that, yes, it’d take a first-round pick for the Niners to listen at this point, which of course would be nice for San Francisco to have after it yielded its firsts in 2022 and ’23 to jump from No. 12 to 3. That, of course, is subject to change. Maybe a veteran stopgap they see as comparable to Garoppolo could come along, and they’d then be motivated to move him (I’m not sure who that would be). Maybe the rookie will arrive and blow everyone away over the summer, and the Niners will want to play him. As it stands right now? I don’t think the Niners feel any sort of urgency to move Garoppolo, which makes his market value completely irrelevant in comparison to the Niners’ price.”

San Francisco has insane asking price for Jimmy Garoppolo

Here’s the next question. Will the Niners change this offer? Will they release Garoppolo ahead of the start of the 2021 season? There are so many questions we’d like to ask.

If the Niners get rid of Garoppolo, would Belichick chase him? Would Garoppolo re-sign with the team that got rid of him a few years ago?

San Francisco traded up the draft board to snatch the No.3 spot in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. In other words, they have a really good chance to get one of the best prospects in this year’s group.

Garoppolo has great value, but the Niners don’t really see him as a long-term solution. He will probably start games with the team though.

If the team gets Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, or Mac Jones with their pick, the Niners can turn the job over to the player in 2021 while stacking draft assets in a Garoppolo trade deal.
