Patriots Will Draft ‘Their Guy’ in First Round, Per NFL Analyst

The New England Patriots will have a strong passing game in 2021. Things didn’t look that good in 2020 and the team missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade. Head coach Bill Belichick spent a lot of millions in the offseason, signing starts like Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith. Kyle Van Noy and Dont’a Hightower will be back with the team. Cam Newton re-signed with the team. Everything seems to be falling in the right place. NFL analyst Albert Breer made another prediction about the Patriots and it involves the upcoming draft and the first round choice for Belichick’s team.

Breer said the Patriots would add another player to the passing group. Is DeVonta Smith your first choice? The Heisman trophy-winning receiver seems like a good option at this point. However, we’d add LSU’s LaMarr Chase to the mix. According to recent mock drafts, Chase has a better chance than the Bama wideout.

Patriots to get a top draft prospect in the first round

Chase is an excellent prospect but there are several questions about Smith and his spot on draft boards.

If NFL teams like Waddle over Smith, there’s a really good chance for the Patriots to snatch him at No.15.

Breer talked about Smith’s potential signing with the Patriots. He believes that Smith is “their type of guy.”

In his junior season, Smith was able to catch 117 passes for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns in 13 games. Yes, pretty much every NFL team would want him.

If Smith joins the Patriots, he will be working with players like Nelson Agholor, Kendrick Bourne, Jakobi Meyers, and Julian Edelman. Head coach Bill Belichick did a good job in that aspect. Add Smith, Henry, and James White to the mix. New England looked terribly in 2020, but a lot of things changed in free agency.

Smith has All-Pro potential. Belichick would want him in New England.

Belichick was pretty aggressive in the offseason and most NFL analysts believe he would take the same approach in the draft. Let’s see what happens in a couple of weeks. Belichick has a plan at this point.
