AFC East Coach Offers Their Assessment Of Patriots Drafting Mac Jones

The New England Patriots thought drafting Mac Jones is a great deal for the team. Well, it really is. Head coach Bill Belichick got the talented quarterback with the 15th overall pick. This was a bold move for the Patriots head coach and most fans have praised him.

The Patriots themselves approve of signing Jones in the offseason. How will rivals react to the signing? An AFC East coach talked about Jones’ selection. The anonymous coach offered their assessment in a convo with NFL Media’s Mike Giardi.

“He processes so well that it will make his lack of athleticism a small issue. And they’ll also be able to run the (offense) the way Josh (McDaniels) wants it run, especially with the 2 tight ends they added. Don’t know if Mac was their guy but it works.”

This is definitely a good interview and Belichick will like it.

Patriots think drafting Mac Jones would take them to more wins

We don’t really know if Jones will start games with the Patriots in 2021. New England signed Cam Newton to another one-year deal. Jarrett Stidham is under contract, too. Will Jones outperform Newton and Stidham in training camp? Well, Belichick really likes Newton and he already said that he was “our quarterback.”

Jones may try to earn the starting job in training camp. He has so much to work on. Belichick said Jones would have to learn a lot from Newton. He likes both players but Jones lacks the experience to lead games in the NFL.

The Patriots missed the playoffs in 2020. They finished the season with a 7-9 record. Belichick won’t go through the same treatment again. He would love to hit the playoffs and possibly win a Super Bowl. The Patriots won the big game in 2018. Tom Brady left the team and signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He will come to New England in 2021. That will be the game you don’t want to miss.

Let’s see how will the Patriots handle the upcoming season. They have a really strong roster. Belichick is happy with the current group of players.
