Cam Newton Reportedly Impressing Patriots Teammates During Workouts

The New England Patriots signed Brian Hoyer to a one-year deal and Jarrett Stidham is still under contract with the team. Head coach Bill Belichick selected Mac Jones in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft and many believe that he is the quarterback of the future. Well, we have a few doubts about the Patriots’ quarterback position. Veteran quarterback Cam Newton signed another one-year contract with the team and he is doing a great job during workouts.

We all know that Newton won’t play elite football forever. But, he is determined to do his best and get the starting job in New England. Belichick trusts him enough to give him the gig. Well, Jones is here and he may get the courage to challenge the 2015 NFL MVP.

Newton feels great on the field and his teammates like him a lot. Belichick may push Jones into the game at some point of the season just to see his style under pressure.

The veteran is great in workouts and he may also keep the starting job throughout the entire season.

Cam Newton is great in workouts

ESPN’s Mike Reiss revealed that the veteran is working with a throwing coach to sharpen his mechanics. The Patriots beat reporter also wrote that players really like Newton and everything he brings on the field.

Quietly and with little fanfare, Cam Newton had been working with a throwing coach to rebuild some of his fundamentals this offseason. Some who shared a field with him this past week at voluntary Patriots workouts — the first time players were on the field as the program shifted to its second phase — noticed a difference. What does it mean in the big picture? The essence of the Patriots’ offseason program is teaching-based, with the goal to give every player what they need so they can be in the best position to compete come training camp, so any pure evaluation is premature. But some teammates view Newton as getting off to a nice start last week.”

Belichick will probably force Newton to compete for the starting job. He did that last summer.
