Damien Harris Offers Words Of Wisdom To Incoming Patriots Rookies

Damien Harris follows every move the New England Patriots make and shared his thoughts on the rookies.

Head coach Bill Belichick and his team brought eight players in New England. Newly-signed players have to make a move and show Belichick that he made the right decision.

In his interview with WBZ’s Steve Burton, Harris said every Patriots player takes a different path to the league. However, once you come to Foxboro, you are on a level playing field as other players in the league.

“Where you get drafted doesn’t really matter,” Harris told Burton, as transcribed by CBS Boston. “I know everyone wants to be a first-round pick. I wanted to be one more than anything. But it doesn’t matter when you step in to this organization because everyone has to do their job. Everyone is held to the same standard, is held accountable and has to be ready to work. That’s the name of the game.

“It’s about the work. There is no magic pill you can take or secret formula or shortcut you can take. This game doesn’t accept that. It’s all about the work, coming in with the mindset to be the best you can be and be the best for your organization. That’s all that matters; being ready to walk in and just go to work.”

Damien Harris knows some of the Patriots rookies

Harris has already met some of the players. Belichick’s first two picks are Alabama products. In other words, Mac Jones and Christian Barmore have seen Harris.

Head coach Belichick made a bunch of signings in the offseason. They had an aggressive approach in free agency and Belichick did an amazing job in the 2021 NFL Draft. According to Pro Football Focus, the Patriots did an amazing job in the draft. They are one of the most successful teams in the group.

The Patriots missed the playoffs in 2020. They won’t miss the playoffs again. Cam Newton will go under center and he will work with a talented group of players. He lacked targets in 2020 and things look better in 2021.
