David Andrews Offers Initial Reaction To Patriots Draftee Mac Jones

The New England Patriots got Mac Jones in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Head coach Bill Belichick said Cam Newton will be the starting quarterback for the team. Will this change late in the summer?

David Andrews may snap to someone else in the upcoming 2021 NFL season.

New England used their No.15 pick on Jones. They selected the Alabama product in order to build their quarterback of the future. Some NFL experts say that Jones is the most NFL-ready signal-caller in this year’s group. Well, we can’t really say that the Patriots will put him under center in Week 1.

The Patriots got Mac Jones for a reason

Andrews spoke to the media during his video conference Tuesday.

“I’m just excited to get to work with him,” he said. “I’ve heard a lot about him. I’m not a quarterback scout, but I’m just excited to get to work with him, get to meet him, hang out with him. Heard a lot of great things about him.”

Andrews is excited about so many things at the moment. The 28-year-old center re-signed with the Patriots. He agreed to a four-year deal worth $19 million. This offseason was really important for the veteran center. Head coach Belichick signed a bunch of new players in the offseason. The new group looks much better than any other group in the league.

Belichick was really great in free agency. He signed talented players and spent a lot of money. We didn’t see the typical Belichick. Patriots owner Robert Kraft would definitely agree on this one.

“I was excited to see some of the improvement we were making and some of the guys we were bringing in,” Andrews said. “… We made a lot of improvement on paper and that’s definitely part of it.”

Jones will join a nice quarterback group in New England. Newton is leading the group, and Jarrett Stidham is still under contract with the team. Young Jones will support the Patriots quarterback and they will all win games together. Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith are of great help at the moment.
