Jimmy Garoppolo Shares Revealing Detail About His Patriots Tenure

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo still remembers the time he had with the New England Patriots despite the fact that his tenure was really short.

Garoppolo talked to the media for the first time since the Niners selected Trey Lance with the No.3 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Lance will probably take Garoppolo’s spot in the upcoming season.

The veteran quarterback talked about this during his interview on CBS Sports Radio. He still remembers some details of his time with the Patriots. New England selected him to succeed Tom Brady. Well, Belichick traded him to San Francisco.

Jimmy Garoppolo won’t join the Patriots for another tenure

Garoppolo never thought the Patriots would ever trade him. When asked how he would have acted had all of the trade speculation about his return to the Patriots come to fruition, the quarterback was loud and clear.

“I don’t know. We never really got to cross that bridge. You never know where your path is going to take you in the NFL. I thought I was going to be in New England for my entire career. That didn’t go as planned. It’s kind of one of those businesses, you have to be ready for anything. You’ve got to be on your toes. You have to be able to react. However the story plays out you have to be ready to run with it.”

New England showed interest in trading for Garoppolo. Some said San Francisco would move the veteran after trading up to the No.3 spot.

San Francisco claims that Garoppolo would start games in 2021. Well, some doubt he will finish the season on the current roster. The quarterback may be approaching his final season with the team.

There’s almost zero chance for Garoppolo to end up playing with the Patriots. Belichick selected Mac Jones with the 15th overall pick. Cam Newton signed another one-year contract with the team. In other words, there’s no room for the San Francisco 49ers quarterback. Garoppolo may have to look for a home somewhere else.
