Lakers Guard Sparks Controversy With Postgame Comments

Los Angeles Lakers guard Dennis Schroder made some strong postgame comments Saturday.

The German native returned to the court for the game against the Indiana Pacers. He didn’t really talk about the time he missed due to the league’s health and safety protocol. The veteran missed seven straight games.

“No, I didn’t test positive,” he said. “I went to separate things to get tested, but I mean, it is what it is, like I said. I’m the only guy who didn’t get vaccinated, so I’m gonna just leave it at that.”

The veteran said he “can’t get it no more.”

“I mean at least I can’t get it no more in the playoffs. That’s probably the best thing,” Schroder said. “Me and my family was talking about it the whole time, we didn’t know, it was like ‘I’m not sure.’ End of the day, I mean, it is what it is. I’m back now and can’t wait for tomorrow and the playoffs, play-in, whatever.”

The Lakers veteran guard made more shocking postgame comments

Reporters asked Schroder to explain his comments. Well, he didn’t do so.

“Next question. Maybe, then, f–k, what you want me to say?” Schroder said. “Next question. Simple. God damn.”

Schroder hit 14 points and four assists in 27 minutes. This was the least amount of minutes he has had since mid-April. Lakers head coach Frank Vogel wouldn’t rush to push Schroder’s workload.

“I thought he looked really good. Had some rust, which is to be expected,” he said. “I thought it was a good start for DS, for sure.”

LeBron James and Anthony Davis are out and Schroder helped the Lakers stay afloat he was averaging 17.8 points in March. His playmaking ability shocked opponents.

“I mean, LeBron’s going to do his thing. AD’s going to do his thing. I think we’ve still got a lot of firepower in this locker room,” Schroder told reporters recently. “But when it comes to [being a] floor general, get a bucket if we need to, hold it down when LeBron is not on the floor, whatever it is, I try to help my team with that.”

Every team in the league will be on action on Sunday. A lot of things will be clearer today. LA can’t control its own destiny. They have to defeat the New Orleans Pelicans team and the Portland Trail Blazers have to lose to the Denver Broncos.

Lakers players are ready for the big show. Davis said his team is ready to play whatever game. They may be sixth or seventh seed.
