Mac Jones Ex-Coach Shares Surprising Revelation About The Quarterback

Mac Jones really wanted to play with the New England Patriots and his former coach shared an interesting story. The Patriots selected Jones with the 15th overall. NFL analysts praised head coach Bill Belichick for the success he had in the first round of the draft. Belichick was really productive in the offseason and he signed many talented players. Jones is one of them and he seems like a good addition to the Patriots.

Jones secretly wanted to sign with the Patriots. His father confirmed that his son’s dream to play for Belichick and the Patriots. Jones’ former Pop Warner youth football coach, Eric Yost remembers Jones as a young kid. He really wanted to follow Tom Brady and his professional career. Well, his dreams came true. Jones is officially a Patriot and his family is proud of him.

Mac Jones impressed his former coach

Yost made nice comments about Jones and NFL analysts would agree with him.

“Mac has always wanted to be a Patriot,” he said Saturday on WEEI’s “The Fitzy & Mego Show.” “He was always a huge Tom Brady fan and always emulated Brady.”

Jones has a chance to succeed Brady in New England. TB12 is out of the team now and he is playing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Patriots signed Cam Newton to another one-year deal. This doesn’t mean that Newton will stay with the Patriots forever. Jarrett Stidham is still here. Jones will have to stand behind and learn from Newton. Belichick already said that Newton is his quarterback heading into 2021.

There was a really big speculation before the 2021 NFL Draft. Some said that the Patriots may need to trade up to get Jones. He slipped to No.15, but he is definitely a good match for the Patriots.

“I ran into his dad at the hardware store,” Yost said on WEEI. “We talked a lot, and they were really, really wanting to go with the Patriots.”
