NFL World Reacts To Bill Belichick Possible Successor

Head coach Bill Belichick is the ultimate leader of the New England Patriots, but the team has to think of his successor. Belichick won’t last forever. The man will sure retire at some point. He has been part of the NFL for too many years. We have at least one reason to believe that Belichick is already planning his post-retirement life. I mean, he earned it, right?

This leads us all the way to Matt Patricia. Will the Patriots use him as a replacement for Coach B? The Detroit Lions fired Patricia in 2020 and he went straight to New England. Working for his former boss seemed like a good idea and Patricia embraced his role with the team.

Patricia is in his second stint with the Patriots. He returned as the assistant to the head coach. Coach B gave him a big word in free agency. Patricia also took part in the draft processes. The Patriots head coach praised his onetime defensive coordinator during last week’s press conference.

“It’s great to have Matt [Patricia] here. He’s an outstanding coach…I’m extremely glad he’s here,” Belichick said during a press conference last Thursday.

Bill Belichick likes his potential successor

Ben Volin from the Boston Globe discussed Patricia’s role with the Patriots this offseason. He has already wrote about the topic earlier this month. Patricia’s roles with the Patriots varied a lot. Could he be Belichick’s successor? Maybe he will be the next head coach with the Patriots. Maybe he will be a general manager one day.

Belichick gave Patricia many opportunities. The latter has the right experience to lead the team.

NFL fans took notice of these comments and their reactions were priceless. Some don’t like the idea of seeing Patricia take Belichick’s position. His time with the Detroit Lions was horrible.

One thing stands for sure. There are too many rumors about Belichick’s next successor. Patricia seems like a good option, but McDaniels worked really hard to earn the spot, too. Both men are great and Belichick will probably have a word in the final decision.
