Patriots Officially Sign Two 2021 NFL Draft Picks To Rookie Contracts

The New England Patriots finished the 2021 NFL Draft with talented rookie players in the pocket and now they signed their contracts. The final two rookies of the Patriots’ draft class signed their rookie contracts with the franchise. Head coach Bill Belichick selected a group of talented players and he is ready to make even more moves. The Patriots had a wild offseason and he was really active in free agency. Belichick had great success in the 2021 NFL Draft and NFL experts are impressed by his success.

Sixth-round offensive lineman William Sherman and seventh-round wide receiver Tre Nixon signed contracts with the Patriots on Tuesday. They became the first of this season’s Patriots draftees to do so.

Sherman started games in his three years at Colorado. He played both left tackle and right tackle.

Nixon had two awesome seasons at UCF. However, he dislocated his collar bone and had to play just four games in 2020. Let’s not forget that now-retired director of football research Ernie Adams selected him with the final pick. The Patriots honored Adams with the great gesture. Adams had the chance to give the Patriots a good player.

Nixon averaged 15.3 yards per reception in college. He did an amazing job at his pre-draft pro day.

The Patriots picked eight players in the 2021 draft. Quarterback Mac Jones, defensive tackle Christian Barmore, edge rusher Ronnie Perkins, running back Rhamondre Stevenson, linebacker Cameron McGrone, safety Joshuah Bledsoe, and Sherman and Nixon joined the Patriots through the draft.

The Patriots’ three-day rookie minicamp will start this Friday. Belichick likes the new group. He will work with a talented group of players. Let’s see how will the Patriots handle the new group. They will work together and some of them bonded with Patriots veterans.

New England offered Cam Newton a one-year deal. He will probably start game with the team. Belichick selected a quarterback in the 2021 draft. Mac Jones will learn under Newton. Jarrett Stidham is in the mix, too. But, Belichick said that the Patriots will put Newton under center in September.
