Pro Football Focus Leaves Patriots Off Most Improved Teams This Offseason

The New England Patriots made some really bold moves in the offseason. Their free agency was wild. The team lost and signed a lot of players. Head coach Bill Belichick did what he thought was the best for his team. A lot of free agents will put on a Patriots uniform in 2021. Belichick’s aggressive approach was amazing and NFL analysts are more than impressed.

The Patriots signed two of the best tight ends in the league. Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith will sure contribute to the team. New England lost Rob Gronkowski and the tight end unit really struggled in the past couple of seasons. Gronk retired right after winning the Super Bowl in 2018. Of course, he came out of his retirement to join TB12 and sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Patriots had successful offseason plan

Belichick made several changes to the tight end unit. Replacing big Gronk was really hard. That’s why he got two tight ends in free agency.

Analysts couldn’t ignore Belichick’s splurge in free agency. He also inked a couple of receivers and a few defensive players. They add great depth to the roster.

That’s not all. Belichick was active in the 2021 NFL Draft, too. He used the 15th overall to get Mac Jones. The young quarterback will learn from veteran Cam Newton. Jarrett Stidham is still under contract with the team. Belichick traded up for the best defensive tackle in the group and got a talented edge rusher.

Belichick did a decent job and analysts are impressed. Well, guys at Pro Football Focus believe other teams have done a better job.

PFF listed the Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, New York Giants, and New York Jets. Chicago was led by the impressive draft class. The Browns had an amazing plan in both offseason events.

Belichick is happy with his current roster. He has a nice group to work with. New England finished the 2020 season with a 7-9 record. It won’t happen again.
