Report: Dennis Schroder Expected to Miss 10-14 Days Due to Health And Safety Protocols

Los Angeles Lakers veteran point guard Dennis Schroder will miss some time due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols. According to recent reports, the veteran won’t play in the next few games.

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel and the team haven’t provided an update on Schroder’s situation. NBA players can enter the protocols because of a positive test or because of close contact with someone who hasn’t been fully vaccinated.

LeBron James and Alex Caruso played against the Toronto Raptors. Caruso was out because of back spasms. He missed the last two games while LeBron missed 20. The four-time NBA champion returned Friday after recovering from his sprained ankle.

Dennis Schroder has already missed games due to health protocols

Schroder missed four games in February because of close exposure to a positive test. The 27-year-old has a key role on the roster. Having him out is a big blow for the franchise.

LA missed all four games Schroder missed in February.

Schroder said he didn’t have COVID and tested negative the whole time. But those “what ifs” cost him a lot. The NBA has special rules. He did test negative the whole time and never had a positive test. Maybe the NBA should make some changes and consider creating other guidelines.

The Lakers returned to full strength. They were close to seventh place in the Western Conference. The team hasn’t played with full rotation since the signing of Andre Drummond. They really need Schroder in the fold. He is averaging 15.5 points and 5.8 assists per game with the Lakers.

Schroder joined the Lakers ahead of the regular season. General Manager Rob Pelinka got him in a trade for Danny Green and the option that turned into Jaden McDaniels after two years with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He averaged 18.9 points and 4.0 assists per game in 65 games off the bench in the 2019 season.

In 2020, the German native ranked second in the voting for the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award He was standing right behind MOntrezl Harrell.
