Report: LeBron James Wanted to Join Knicks But His Wife Preferred Los Angeles in 2018

LeBron James shocked the entire NBA in 2018. He left the Cleveland Cavaliers again and signed a four-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. This was yet another shocking moment in LeBron’s career. He left the Cavaliers twice but this time they weren’t too angry. LeBron helped them win the first title in team history after all. He did the best for his family. According to recent sources, his wife, Savannah, had a big say in LeBron’s final decision.

King James turned the basketball works upside down by joining the storied franchise. Well, many thought that he’d sign with the New York Knicks. LeBron made a lot of headlines back then and some people thought that he’d consider other NBA franchise. The Knicks seemed like a reasonable option back then. But, the Queen had something else to say about this.

“We heard that LeBron wanted to come to New York,” Vanity Fair’s Lisa Robinson said on the “Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective” podcast. “I have really good sources about this, that he was thinking about coming to New York but that his wife wanted to be in Los Angeles, wanted the kids to go to school in Los Angeles, and that just kiboshed the whole thing.”

LeBron James made a good move in 2018

Let’s just take this declaration with a grain of salt. Yes, she has a lot of connections in the world, but she doesn’t cover sports or the NBA. At least not directly.

Well, this wouldn’t surprise us. LeBron liked the Knicks and he respects the franchise. He said that playing in Madison Square Garden and the huge NY market was a special thing. A lot of players got the best of NY.

LeBron decided to join the Lakers. His first season with the team didn’t go well and LeBron suffered a terrible injury. He missed 17 games and LA missed the playoffs. Lakers players struggled without LeBron and the front office had to make a change. They brought Anthony Davis. What happened next? LA won the title. They won the championship inside the NBA bubble in Orlando. You can’t underestimate that.
