Rob Gronkowski Sheds Light On State Of Relationship With Bill Belichick

The New England Patriots lost one of the best tight ends in league history in 2018. Rob Gronkowski decided to retire and many thought that this had something to do with Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. Well, Gronk came out of his retirement to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tom Brady signed his contract with the team and Gronk decided to join him. They won a Super Bowl together and fans kept asking questions about Gronk’s departure. Why did he leave the Patriots?

Rob Gronkowski respects Bill Belichick

Well, Gronkowski respects his former coach. In an appearance on ESPN’s “#Greeny” podcast, the veteran tight end talked about his relationship with Belichick.

“It’s always been a great relationship actually and I’m super blessed just to have the nine years that I had there, big time,” Gronkowski told host Mike Greenberg, as transcribed by MassLive. “I’ve learned so much throughout my time there. But I would say the relationship is fine. I mean, I really haven’t talked to (Belichick) at all since I’ve been traded to the Tampa Bay Bucs, but if I see him in the streets, if I see him out at an event, a football event, wherever it is, a charity event, I have absolutely no problem with him.

“I feel like we would just kick it off like we normally would, any event. Talk some football real quick, because you know he’s got to always talk football, and just catch up quick. But I feel like there’ll be no problems at all and we’ll just kick it off like how we normally do.”

These comments didn’t come as a surprise to us all. Belichick likes Gronk and the big man likes him too. There is no beef between these two. Gronk left the Patriots on his own terms. He won a Super Bowl and decided to leave. Belichick helped Gronk on his way to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Here comes the best part. Gronk and Brady will come to New England to confront their former team.
