The Patriots Are Signing Another Veteran Quarterback

The New England Patriots are making a move and head coach Bill Belichick keeps strengthening the roster. The Patriots head coach is signing a veteran quarterback to add more depth to the roster. First, he signed Cam Newton to a one year deal. He selected Mac Jones in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft as the 15th overall pick. Who is next on the list?

Brian Hoyer.

Belichick is unstoppable. Adam Schefter from ESPN reported that New England signed the veteran quarterback to a one-year deal with the team. Hoyer played for Belichick in 2020 and will return for another year in 2021. The 35-year-old earned Belichick’s trust and the head coach decided to give him another chance. Let’s see how will he work with the Patriots.

Patriots are signing a quarterback for the win

Hoyer played in just one game in 2020. He was able to complete 15 of his 24 passes for 130 yards and one interception in that game. Well, the Patriots will be more than happy to have Hoyer back on the roster. He will be a true mentor for young Jones and Stidham. 2021 will be a great year for the Patriots and they have a lot of talented guys on the field.

Hoyer knows the Patriots really well. He joined the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2009. The Michigan State product spent five season with the team and part of the 2017 season. The veteran turned out to be a reliable veteran presence for the Patriots in his 12-year pro career. He spent time with 10 teams and has 39 total starts with a 16-23 record.

The veteran joins Newton, Stidham and Jones. With three months until the start of the 2021 season. Coach Belichick has yet to make an official decision on his starter. He did say that Newton was their quarterback. Things will be a lot clearer for the team in training camp. Belichick likes his quarterbacks and he will make the perfect combination for the team. Newton and Hoyer will lead players and help them get ready for the new season. Hopefully, New England will make the playoffs and beat Tom Brady in Week 4.
