Bill Belichick’s Bold Tease of Cam Newton Redemption Season in New England

The New England Patriots are packed with talent and head coach Bill Belichick made some strong moves in the offseason. The team will enter the 2021 NFL season with four quarterbacks on the roster. Third-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham was under contract with the team and Belichick signed Brian Hoyer to another one-year deal. He selected Mac Jones in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft and Hoyer will be his mentor. The veteran will also step up as a backup. This leads us to Cam Newton and his redemption season with the Patriots.

The 2015 NFL MVP struggled last season, but Belichick decided to trust him again. Newton signed a one-year deal with the Patriots and he looks pretty confident on the field. Well, he suffered a minor hand injury and missed OTAs.

Try not to fall in despair. Belichick gave us a reason for optimism with respect to his veteran. Newton is entering his second year with the team.

Cam Newton will have his redemption season

Belichick brought Newton in New England in July last year. He didn’t have much time to prepare for the new system, and let’s be honest, the Patriots have a complex offense. The new quarterback was supposed to replace the greatest of all time as he had already signed a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Patriots head coach threw Newton into competition, and he ended up earning the top job with the team. Newton struggled throughout the entire season, but his running game was strong. He worked with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels for a year and that gives him a huge advantage.

According to Belichick, “Super Cam” is in an excellent shape. He also added that Newton advanced a lot.

Cam’s way ahead of where he was last year at this time,” Belichick said, via ESPN’s Adam Schefter. “There’s no question about that.”

What does that mean? Is he really the starting quarterback for the Patriots in 2021? I guess so… Maybe Belichick will test his rookie at some point of the regular season.
