Jared Dudley Says Anthony Davis Will Take The Torch From LeBron James Next Season

LeBron James and Anthony Davis were leading the Los Angeles Lakers to the top. However, both superstars lost significant time due to injuries. AD left the game in mid-February and LeBron suffered his horrible injury on March 20.

The Phoenix Suns eliminated LA in the first round of the playoffs. Players struggled to perform and some of the veterans lost grip. Dennis Schroder didn’t play his best basketball, and other veterans faced similar issues, too.

LeBron is an excellent leader and he motivates players to do their best on the floor. He signed a contract extension with the Lakers and AD signed his deal, too. Several reports suggest that LeBron will pass the torch to his younger teammate.

Lakers veteran Jared Dudley says that AD will take over the leadership from the king of basketball next season.

Anthony Davis to switch roles with LeBron James

Dudley talked about the 2021-22 edition of the team in his exit interview with reporters. He said that Davis will become the Lakers’ central component.

“We salute him (James),” Dudley said. “People say he’s slowing down, and it’s natural to slow down a little bit. That’s why you have Anthony Davis. That’s where he has to take the torch, and that’s where he will take the torch next year.”

Davis will have plenty of time to rest. He missed three months due to injuries and several experts are worried about his health condition.

LeBron will turn 37 in December. He plays elite basketball and he is the best player in the NBA. Lakers players believe that Davis will have to establish himself as a true leader.

When healthy, AD may be difficult to handle on the court. To be a true leader, Davis will have to find a good way to communicate with his teammates.

LeBron was great in doing this in the last 18 years. He won four titles and 10 conference championships in almost two decades.

Davis is 28. He has a lot of time to build a strong relationship with his teammates. The big man was a franchise player for the New Orleans Pelicans. Let’s see what happens next season.
