Julian Edelman Opens Up About Instant Recognition After Retirement

New England Patriots star Julian Edelman announced his retirement earlier this offseason. He left the team after 12 long years. Edelman gave his best to help the team win games and won three Super Bowls with the franchise.

Edelman received a lot of pleasant acknowledgements following his announcement. But, some people pushed him straight into the Hall of Fame debate. Fans believe that Edelman deserves his enshrinement in Canton. However, some guys say that he shouldn’t get it.

The former wideout went on Chris Long’s “Green Light” podcast to talk about several topics, including the Hall of Fame debate. Edelman talked about all the guys who acknowledged his accomplishment and respect his great effort.

“A lot of it went to BS instantly, like all the Hall (of Fame) talk and stuff,” Edelman said, as transcribed by WEEI. “There was a lot of hate on that and I had some cool dudes reach out and I will leave it between them. I am not going to name-drop, but you know what I mean. It was cool to have that and see the team and hear what Coach (Bill Belichick) said and what Mr. Kraft said.

“And being part of one organization my whole career and you know how it is there. You don’t necessarily get the compliments and to hear Bill say what he said at that level ? that is kind of like if Bill gave you a compliment or a pat on the butt like during the week, it made your week.”

Julian Edelman will stay involved in football following his retirement

Head coach Bill Belichick has nothing but words for his superstar. Edelman is an excellent player and Belichick recognizes greatness. In one occasion, Belichick said Edelman is “the ultimate competitor,” adding that he “could, and did, do everything.”

That’s the ultimate compliment, right? The Patriots won a lot of games thanks to Edelman. He led the team and his veteran presence motivated younger players. Robert Kraft was happy to have him around. Belichick liked his veteran and he will sure miss his competitive side.
