Lakers Guard Addresses on Future With Team

The Los Angeles Lakers will probably lose some of their veterans in the offseason. The team was eliminated in the first round of the 2021 playoffs. Phoenix had a solution for LeBron James and his teammates. Some of the players failed to perform, and General Manager Rob Pelinka will probably get rid of them. One Lakers guard talked about his future with the team. Well, he didn’t really reveal much.

Ben McLemore joined the Lakers late in the season. He was an excellent 3-point shooter but didn’t live up to the expectations. McLemore did step up when the team struggled with injuries. He scored 8.0- points in 17 minutes per game and was shooting 37% from beyond the arc.

The Los Angeles Lakers won’t don’t have much material to play with in free agency. Well, McLemore wouldn’t cost more than a minimum contract if they were to re-sign him.

“It was a great opportunity to play with LeBron and AD,” McLemore said recently when approached by a TMZ cameraman. “Two of the top players in the league. Great group of guys playing here in LA.”

The Lakers guard is yet to make a decision on his future

Will McLemore be back with the Lakers?

“We’ll see man. It’s a business,” he told TMZ. “All I’m worried about is getting back in that gym and spending some quality time with my family.”

He said pretty much the same during his exit interview.

“They gave me a great opportunity to be here and be part of this great organization,” McLemore told the media. “I did exactly what they expected me to do. We definitely had high expectations and obviously, last night was tough — it’s going to be tough for a while — but this is a great organization that’s bounced back from things like this before.”

McLemore also talked about the first-round exit, and also discussed Anthony Davis’ injury. Would LA still be playing if the big man didn’t suffer an injury?

“Everybody knows that,” McLemore responded.

“So you guys would have got past the Suns?” the interviewer asked.

“Next question,” McLemore said, starting to walk away.
