Lakers Veteran Sends Strong Message to Rest of NBA

The Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs a few days ago. Players are already planning the next title run and promised to take care of their “unfinished business.” Lakers veteran Markieff Morris delivered a strong message for the rest of the NBA. It’s more like a warning.

Morris took to Twitter Sunday to thank Lakers fans for their incredible support.

“Thanks for the love and the support from Lakers Nation this year!” he wrote. “It was good to see you guys back in the staples! I know we came up short but we got some unfinished business!! I’ll just leave it at that!”

Morris is not under contract for the upcoming season. He signed a one-year deal with the team. Well, the veteran is definitely confident about his return to LA. Lakers fans would love to have him back.

“This is definitely where I want to be. I think we have a good shot at running it back,” Morris told reporters after the season was over. “There’s nowhere else I’d rather be. I feel like this is home for me.”

If Morris wants to play again in LA, the franchise would be more than thrilled about the opportunity. Morris doesn’t even think of money as he has earned almost $50 million in his basketball career. It’s more than obvious that he wouldn’t get more than the minimum. Morris is coming off a tough season with the Lakers. He was averaging 6.7 points and 4.4 rebounds in 19.7 minutes per game while shooting the 3-ball at 31.1% clip.

Morris also apologized to Suns owner Robert Sarver.

“I think he thought something happened that didn’t when [Chris Paul] got hurt, and I kind of said some stuff to him,” Morris told reporters. “I don’t know if he heard about it, but I apologize to him for that because it was a misunderstanding and, you know, I’m older now and I shouldn’t have replied the way I did and I just want him to know that.”

Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka wouldn’t change the core at the moment. He wants each and every player back in the fold in 2022.

“I’m convinced that, again, without some of the unforeseen circumstances this year, the challenges that we had to face, that we’d be a championship-caliber team,” he said. “So the goal is to try to keep that core group together.”
