LeBron James at Center of Kevin Durant Controversy

LeBron James is making headlines just because Scottie Pippen decided to make a few comments about Kevin Durant, and yes, the whole thing turned into a controversy.

It wasn’t his fault, of course.

The Hall of Famer took a shot at Durant during his interview with Tyler R. Tynes of GQ. According to Pippen, Durant has yet to surpass the kid from Akron. He also said that LeBron would have found a way to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks.

“KD can score better than LeBron, probably always have been able to. But has he surpassed LeBron? Naw,” Pippen said. “He tried to beat the Milwaukee Bucks instead of utilizing his team. You see what I’m saying? LeBron James would’ve figured out how to beat them and he wouldn’t have been exhausted and he may not have taken the last shot. But LeBron ain’t KD, and KD ain’t LeBron. KD is a shooter, a scorer. But he doesn’t have what LeBron has.”

Pippen shocked the NBA with the LeBron James – Kevin Durant controversy

We don’t really know the reason behind all this. Durant carried the Brooklyn Nets to the top all while averaging 35.4 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game with a 49.7 field-goal percentage. Durant was close to leading the Nets to the Eastern Conference Finals on his own. Kyrie Irving and James Harden sustained injuries and Durant had bigger responsibilities on his back.

Durant was amazing in Game 5 against the Bucks. He hit 49 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists. LeBron took notice of this and praised the veteran.

Great Durant took notice of all the comments Pippen made and decided to blast him.

“Didn’t the great Scottie Pippen refuse to go in the game for the last-second shot because he was in his feelings his coach drew up the play for a better shooter?” Durant tweeted.

That’s not all.

“This guy Scott also wanted to enjoy his summer so he chose to rehab during the season lol yo [Scottie Pippen],” Durant added. “THEY FOLLOWED PHIL, NOT YOU!”

LeBron and Durant struggled with injuries in 2020. The Lakers superstar suffered a high-ankle sprain and Durant treated his thigh and hamstring issues.

Lakers players will have extra time to get ready for the next season. LeBron is getting the best of his rest.

“It’s going to work wonders for me, obviously,” he said. “During the season I don’t even talk about rest, I don’t even like to put my mind and frame into that, it makes me weak. But in the offseason, I get an opportunity to rest. We’ve got like three months to recalibrate, get my ankle back to 100% where it was before that Atlanta game, and that’s the most important thing for me.”
