NBA Drops Hammer on Pat Riley Over Comments on Lakers’ LeBron James

Pat Riley made some shocking comments on Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James. He literally said that he’d welcome King James to the Miami Heat if he wanted to return to the team. Of course, some people took this for granted but most NBA analysts were shocked. Imagine LeBron putting on a Heat Uniform? That would be crazy. He won two championships with the Miami Heat and played really well with the team.

One thing stands for sure. Riley is asking for a fine because the NBA won’t like the fact that he welcomed LeBron back to the Heat. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that Riley has been fined $25,000 for violating the league’s anti-tampering rule.

Getting this fine won’t hurt too much, but Riley has definitely learned his lesson. He can’t just welcome top players to his team. The NBA won’t allow that.

The Miami Heat didn’t have much success this season. They made the NBA Finals last year, but got swept in the first round of the playoffs this season. The Milwaukee Bucks played really well against the franchise.

Pat Riley made his comments on LeBron for a reason

Riley talked to the media about the failure and here’s what he said about LeBron:

“I would leave the key under the doormat if he would call me and let me know that he’s coming,” Riley said last week in an interview on Dan Le Batard’s radio show. “I would do that, but I doubt very much that key. … That key is rusted now.

“LeBron, look, he’s one of the greatest of all time, and for four years down here, if we want to go back and remember what those four years were like, it was four years in the Finals, four years of excitement, two world championships. …It was the best time for the Heat. So I wish him nothing but the best, and if he ever wanted to come back, I’ll put a new shiny key under the mat.”

LeBron really likes the Heat but we believe that he will be a Laker for life.
