NFL Insider Has Update On Cam Newton Hand Injury

Head coach Bill Belichick said Cam Newton was the starting quarterback for the Patriots, but he suffered a hand injury. The 2015 NFL MVP was expected to start games for Year 2 with the New England Patriots. He is coming off a disappointing season with the team. Patriots players finished the 2020 season with a 7-9 record. Newton is getting ready to change the narrative and we have a few good reasons to believe that he will stay under center throughout the entire season.

Head coach Bill Belichick shocked everyone with his first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Patriots selected Mac Jones with the 15th overall. Many believe that the Alabama prospect will replace Newton.

Jones may be the long term answer at starting quarterback for the Patriots. Belichick will give Newton a chance to start as he already knows the system. Well, the Patriots head coach won’t think twice before replacing him. If Newton plays bad, Jones will easily take his position.

Cam Newton to skip OTAs to treat his hand injury

The veteran has to stay healthy. He has a long history of injuries and deals with another setback. Newton’s hand injury gives us a reason to worry. The quarterback injured his hand during a drill. Is this a big issue? Well, Newton may sit out the next few weeks to recover and get ready for the season

“Cam Newton suffered a slight bone bruise today at practice,” Ian Rapoport reported on Friday night. “Not considered major at all, but since it’s the Spring, we may not see much more of him until training camp.”

Jones has a chance to show his skills. However, Jarrett Stidham was the main benefactor during practice.

“Every throw Stidham delivered during seven-on-seven and 11-on-11 passing periods found its target, including the one Jakob Johnson dropped,” Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald wrote, saying it was a perfect day for the former Auburn alumni.

He was 8-for-11 in the same period. We will probably witness a huge battle for the No.2 quarterback spot.
