Patriots Fans Not Happy With Bill Belichick Coach Ranking

The New England Patriots didn’t make the playoffs last season. Some NFL analysts blame it on the coaching tactics. Well, Patriots fans won’t like the latest development of events, and Bill Belichick took a different position in the coach ranking.

The football analytics website Pro Football Focus made hot headlines in the NFL with the ranking of the best coaches in the league. Coach Belichick was absent from the top five. Why?

Many would agree that this was conspicuously absent from the top of the best coaches. The man won six titles with the New England Patriots.

Bill Belichick should have been put higher in the coach ranking

Believe it or not, Belichick came in sixth. Randy Reid, John Harbaugh, Matt LaFleur, Sean McDermott, and Sean Payton came before Belichick. The Patriots head coach has more Super Bowl rings than all of these coaches combined. Why did he end up sixth on the list?

Something is really shady here.

PFF analyst Eric Eager shared his thoughts on the ranking. He offered his explanation from a purely analytical perspective. According to him, Belichick has “lagged behind for the past decade.” Yes, he was talking about fourth-down situational football. He did deserve a spot on the list for the track record in player development.

Adam London from NESN.com provided a scathing rebuttal to the ranking. He explained that “wins and losses” are the only thing everyone should be worried about.

“The only numbers we should be concerned about as it pertains to this argument is wins and losses, and Belichick has a pretty good track record of perennially racking up the former. Last season was an exception, but nearly going .500 with a roster as poor as the 2020 Patriots’ is nothing to scoff at.”

Colin Cowherd is all-in when it comes to discussing analytics. He ripped PFF for putting the Patriot legend behind LaFleur.

A lot of people agree with Cowherd and London. The 2020 season was bad for the Patriots, but Belichick had a lot of success in the past two decades.
