Speedy Rookie WR Threat to Take N’Keal Harry Roster Spot

N’Keal Harry didn’t make a good first impression. The New England Patriots signed him so he can help the team win more games. Unfortunately, Harry struggled with injuries and his performance on the field was really poor.

The New England Patriots missed the playoffs in 2020. Head coach Bill Belichick is rebuilding the roster and he brought a lot of new players to New England. Julian Edelman called it career and Belichick has to add more depth to the receiving unit. Of course, he has a few new names on the table. Will Harry stay with the team in the long run?

If New England trades for Julio Jones, the depth chart will get even deeper. According to recent reports, new England has a potential sleeper ready to win. Seventh-round draft pick Tre Nixon may soon earn his spot on the roster. Harry will probably go out…

N’Keal Harry to lose his job

Nelson Agholor, Kendrick Bourne, and Jakobi Meyers are virtual locks to hit the roster. The other two or three spots may come down to Harry, Nixon, Kristian Wilkerson, Gunner Olszewski, and Isaiah Zuber. Matthew Slater is a wideout but he doesn’t play outside of his special teams job. Olszewski made the Pro Bowl in 2020 and he would sure get a spot on the roster even if he doesn’t get chances at a wideout.

Ian Logue from PatsFan.com discussed how Nixon relates to Harry.

“This is a group that’s different than past seasons.  They’ve got a nice mix of quick and speedy receivers, with Kendrick Bourne, Jakobi Meyers and Nelson Agholor as the names most Patriots fans will expect to be on the field in 2021. However, for Nixon to stick, something will probably have to give. The potential question might be what the future might hold for N’Keal Harry.  As it is, the former first-round pick faces some tough competition in camp and it’s going to be interesting to see if he makes the roster, or if the team decides a change of scenery might be the better move for the former Arizona State standout.  We’ve definitely heard countless trade rumors during the offseason, so for one to come into fruition wouldn’t be a surprise if that’s how it plays out.”
