Watch: Marcus Smart Reveals Who The Original LeBron James Was

Who is the original LeBron James? Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart seems to know the answer to the question. Smart talked about this on a recent episode of “Respect Your OGs.”

The Celtics veteran paid tribute to an NBA player who is not making headlines these days.

Grant Hill was a honorable member of the popular Duke University teams of the early 1990s. Hill was the third overall pick in the 1994 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. This happened two seasons after they started rebuilding the roster following the “Bad Boys” era.

Things went really well for the player. Hill became one of the best players in the NBA. He played both forward positions and was able to handle the ball and initiate teams’ offense as well as top guards.

Talented Hill praised the original LeBron James

Hill suffered a horrible ankle injury in 2000. It was a serious ailment and he had to deal with serious complications. Hill was unable to play a full season for a few years and had to cut his viability short.

The talented player had a short renaissance in his mid-30s. He was a complementary player and helped the Phoenix Suns make the Western Conference Finals in 2010.

Hill could do it all and a lot of basketball players look up to him. His career would have taken a different turn had he stayed healthy. Well, the game is unpredictable and players have to live with all the pain and injuries coming their way.

When it comes to LeBron, he has just missed the chance to win another title. The Los Angeles Lakers struggled to stay afloat in his absence. The four-time NBA suffered a terrible injury and missed a lot of time. His teammates lost too many games and LA had to take part in the play-in tournament. They won the game against the Golden State Warriors but had to leave the first round of the playoffs a little too early. The Phoenix Suns beat LeBron’s team and LA has to rebuild the entire roster now.
