Bill Belichick Out-of-Character Behavior Spells Trouble for a Select Group of Patriots Players

The New England Patriots will try to make the playoffs in 2021. They missed the chance to win in 2020. Head coach Bill Belichick is determined to win and some players may be in trouble.

Legendary Bill is the greatest head coach of all time. Well, some fans say that he is more like a general manager for the Patriots. Belichick was able to select some great starters in the draft. He brought Tom Brady to New England. He selected Richard Seymour, Vince Wilfork, Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, and Devin McCourty.

Here’s another thing. His level of success changed in the last few years. Before punter Jake Bailey earned the honor last year, Jamie Collins was the last Patriots selection to get named to the Pro Bowl. Collins was selected 52nd overall in 2013. Bailey was a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. What about this draft class?

Bill Belichick put several players in trouble

Belichick brought a few pricey players to Foxboro. Some of his current players may loose their job.

Wide receiver N’Keal Harry requested a trade through his agent. Many would say that selecting him was the worst personnel decision Belichick has ever made.

The Patriots traded up to get Joejuan Williams with the 45th overall. Williams was unable to get consistent playing time in his first two seasons with the Patriots. Mills may not make the final roster as they both play a hybrid corner/safety role.

Enter Chase Winovich. The third-rounder has an excellent pass-rush ability, but he made some really big mistakes in 2020. Kyle Van Noy and Judon are here, so Wino will have to try really hard in training camp.

Third-round selection Ronnie Perkins may force the Patriots to trade the outside linebacker to someone who needs some pass-rush help. Winovich’s future with the Patriots is hanging in the air. The same goes for quarterback Jarrett Stidham. Some of these players will have to join another team. Who is the first to go?
