Jeanie Buss Makes Heartbreaking Admission on Still Not Being Over Kobe Bryant

Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss was shocked by the death of Kobe Bryant. The Black Mamba died January 26, 2020, leaving everyone in pain and tears. He was really young and people have a hard time getting over the loss. This applies to pretty much every Lakers fan, including Buss.

Kobe’s unexpected death was a big shock for the NBA community. The entire world grieved. Kobe was a legend and a lot of players looked up to him and his dominance. Everyone wanted to be like him. He is one of the most competitive players to ever hit the floor. I mean, the man won five championships with the Lakers. He spent his entire career with the team and he was really proud of this accomplishment.

Jeanie Buss had a good connection with Kobe Bryant

Buss had an excellent connection with Kobe. Their bond became really strong in his rookie campaign, all the way back to 1996. Buss met Kobe and took him out to lunch. They both love Italy and their convo went really well. With his final year in LA, Kobe trusted only Buss to ease his way out.

She talked to Jon Gold of the New York Times about her friendship with Kobe and their strong connection. Truth is, Buss hasn’t gotten over the death of Bryant. She will never get over it.

“It’s almost like having to put him away again,” she said, her voice cracking. “He’s going into the Hall, and it’s like we’re leaving him there. It’s hard. It’s hard to go through this again.”

“I guess,” she added, “you just don’t get over it.”

Kobe really liked Buss and wanted Gianna to be like her.

“Once, he asked her out to lunch and brought Gianna. He said he wanted his daughter to learn from a powerful female sports executive; Buss now believes that was only a ruse, that Bryant just wanted Buss to know how important she was, to him and to the team.”

These stories gave us chills. Buss made people cry.
