Jeanie Buss was instantly attracted to Phil Jackson. They were one of the most popular couples in the league. Their romance started off in 1999 and ended in 2016. Buss and Jackson didn’t get married and their story was brought to an end But, this doesn’t change the fact that Buss has nothing but respect and love for Phil. In her interview with the New York Times, Buss shared some juicy details about her relationship with Jackson. His voice sparked the connection. His voice really caught her attention. She knew him as the “eccentric coach of the Bulls.”

“He’s this person I never thought I’d be attracted to, but the second I met him, there was something about his voice,” Buss said, via ClutchPoints. “I was just like, ‘Who is this guy?’ All I knew was he was this kind of eccentric coach of the Bulls, and then he becomes the most important relationship in my life.”

We all know what happened next. Buss and Jackson date for over ten years before announcing their engagement in 2012.

However, they broke up in 2016. Jackson was working in Manhattan for the New York Knicks. What happened next? Buss and Jackson ended their engagement.

Buss said the Lakers were really important. She couldn’t give her franchise and Jackson her undivided attention.

“The love of my life is the Los Angeles Lakers. I love Phil & will always. It’s not fair to him or Lakers to not have my undivided attention,” Buss said in a 2016 tweet.
