Lakers Make Contract Decision On Talen Horton-Tucker

The Los Angeles Lakers missed the chance to repeat as champions. General Manager Rob Pelinka will have to make some decisions this offseason, and it looks like he has made one regarding the contract situation of Talen Horton-Tucker.

The franchise is paving the path for a return to the top of the NBA next season. Players struggled to stay afloat, and both superstars missed significant time due to serious injuries. Some of the players on the current roster will have to go. This leaves enough room for fresh power and new names. Who is the first to go?

THT is not one of them.

On Thursday, the franchise announced that they have extended the qualifying offer to the young guard. The 20-year-old is a restricted free agent and he will be worth $1,869,178 in the upcoming season as reported by Spotrac.

In other words, the Lakers really liked what they saw from Horton-Tucker in 2020-21. The team will have a chance to match other long-term offers that Horton-Tucker receives from other teams or re-sign him to a better deal.

Good contract offer for Talen Horton-Tucker

THT outperformed his station in the past campaign. He played in 65 regular-season games, averaging 9.0 points, 2.8 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.0 steal. He was shooting 45.8 percent from the floor in 20.1 minutes per night.

Horton-Tucker had this incredible ability to do the right thing at the right time. Lakers coaches really liked this. LeBron James loved the performance of his younger teammate. Of course, THT can improve his defense and his three-point shooting. One thing stands for sure. He is developing into a capable basketball player.

Securing THT is one of the many moves LA is expected to make in the offseason. The team left the Western Conference Finals in the first round. There’s no room for excuses and everyone will be working extra hard to repair the damage.

Reports suggest that the Lakers will be all-in when it comes to getting a veteran point guard to work with LeBron and Anthony Davis. Who is the best target on the NBA market?
