Lakers Might Get a Good Deal And Trade Kyle Kuzma

The Los Angeles Lakers may trade away some of the players on the current roster, and Kyle Kuzma was the first trade asset we could think of. The young forward has been added to pretty much every rumor in the past few years. Oh wait, these rumors started at the very first moment he joined the Lakers.

Rob Pelinka will try to improve the roster following the early exit of the NBA playoffs. Some players will become free agents while others will try to get a better deal with the team. Dennis Schroder turned down the contract extension LA offered him. He wants something between $100 and $120 million. Pelinka would never pay that much money for someone like Schroder. It’s not like he is a bad guy, but that’s just too much.

This leads us all the way to the Sacramento Kings. The franchise is trying to move Buddy Hield, and LA would easily send Kuzma away for a nice return. This means both sides have found a match in one another.

Shams Charania from The Athletic reported that LA and Sacramento have discussed the potential trade.

“The Lakers and Sacramento Kings have discussed a deal centered around guard Buddy Hield, sources tell The Athletic. Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma would be involved in a potential package, per sources.”

Does this mean that Kuzma will get a chance for a fresh start?

Lakers to trade Kyle Kuzma to Sacramento

The Lakers like a great number of guards right now. Point guards Kyle Lowry and Chris Paul seem like a good option for the purple and gold. Adding a third star is of utmost importance right now. The player will make things easier for LeBron James and Anthony Davis in terms of offense. Hield offers a different dynamic that may make things easier for everyone in LA.

In 2020-21, the Kings veteran shot 39.1% from three. He is a career 40.6% shooter from range. In his prime, Hield shot 43.1% from beyond the arc in the 2017-8 season. He shot 42.7% the following season and inked a $94 million contract extension after hitting these numbers.
