LeBron James’ High School Jersey Sells For New World Record at Auction

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is making headlines again, and this time he is doing it with his high school basketball jersey. Do you know that the piece sold for a big price at Juliens Auctions in Los Angeles this weekend?

The four-time NBA champion wore the jersey for the brilliant “The Chosen One” cover of Sports Illustrated on Feb. 18, 2002. It’s a valuable jersey and someone bought it for half million dollars. It’s $512, 000 to be more precise.

This marked a new world record for highest selling price for a high school jersey sold at auctions.

Former US President Barack Obama held the previous record. It was the No.23 jersey he wore in his senior year at Punahou School as part of the 1979 Hawaii State Champion boys’ varsity team. The jersey sold for $192,000 in 2020.

LeBron wore it for the Sports Illustrated photo shoot and the high school match he had that same evening.

LeBron is one of the most decorated high school athletes the world has ever seen. His jersey is one of the most iconic in sports history. LeBron was the best prospect that year and he received a huge dose of basketball hype. People all over the nation followed his development. It was more than obvious that LeBron would become a superstar. His game was sharp and his opponents were shocked. The kid from Akron did much more than anyone else in this world.

LeBron graduated from St. Vincent-St. Mary in 2003. He was the 21st NBA player to join the league right away. The Cleveland Cavaliers selected him with the No.1 overall and he helped them win a championship. Of course, they had a mini-breakup and LeBron won two championships with the Miami Heat before going back home.

King James is on his third team and he has already won a ring with the Lakers. Hopefully, he will stay healthy and win a few more before calling it career.
