Magic Johnson Says 11-Time All-Star Needs to Call LeBron James & Lakers

Magic Johnson may not hold a position in the Los Angeles Lakers front office, but he follows every move they make. The team was eliminated by the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs, and Johnson suggests that LA should snatch their superstar. Yes, the NBA legend believes that Chris Paul is a good fit for the Lakers.

CP3 has been part of the NBA for 16 seasons. He made his first NBA Finals appearance this season, but Giannis Antetokounmpo won the ring. Paul was so close to winning his first championship. It didn’t happen.

Truth is, Paul is one of the best point guards in NBA history. He doesn’t have a ring and that’s the only “issue” on his record. He was really close to getting one this season, but the Greek Freak stopped him.

Magic Johnson wants Chris Paul on the Lakers roster

The 36-year-old has to make a smart move and get his ring in the next few seasons. He will have to retire at some point.

Paul will enter free agency this season and he has to plan his future. Phoenix will meet a much tougher West next season. Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, Jamal Murray, and Kawhi Leonard will return to full health. Can the Suns beat this?

Magic Johnson has an advice for Paul. He doesn’t want to see the veteran waste his last few years in the league. Here’s what he wrote on Twitter:

Paul hasn’t joined a super team in his professional career, but he will have to change the approach this time.

CP3 is one of the oldest players in the NBA, but his elite basketball is impressive. He averaged 16.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Suns. Add an average of 8.9 assists per game. Yes, he even got his MVP votes. What’s next on the list for the veteran point guard?

“It will take a while to process this and whatnot, but it’s the same mentality — get back to work,” Paul told reporters after Tuesday’s series loss to the Bucks. “I ain’t retiring if that’s what you’re asking. That’s out. Back to work.”
