Matt Damon Weighs in on Patriots’ Tom Brady Bill Belichick Debate

Matt Damon shared his thoughts on the “battle” between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

TB12 left the New England Patriots after 20 years. He signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and won a Super Bowl in 2020. How cool is that?

Damon appeared on The Ringer’s “The Bill Simmons Podcast” and talked about the ongoing debate. Do you know that he watched every Buccaneers game? He loves watching Brady win. The actor is actually rooting for the greatest quarterback of all time! We are not even surprised.

“It’s not even a bandwagon. I love Tom,” Damon told Simmons. “I love him. He’s a once-in-a-lifetime athlete for all of us who were lucky enough to be able to follow his entire career. I’m riding it all the way to the end.

“It’s not a bandwagon. I’m all in on that guy. The Patriots, I don’t — I’m following Tommy. Like I just … the fact that he did that last year on a torn MCL? I mean just stop it, you know what I mean? It’s just awesome. It’s such a great story.”

Matt Damon roots for Tom Brady not Bill Belichick

Brady his seventh ring with a torn MCL. Damon loved that! If you ask him, he will say that Brady had a bigger role in the Patriots dynasty than the legendary head coach.

“I was always a believer … everybody does the ‘Was it Belichick or was it Brady?’ Belichick’s an amazing coach, but I never doubted that it wasn’t Brady,” Damon said. “Yeah, because he’s on the field playing the game.”

Damon and Brady are great friends. Some would say he was a bit biased here. But, fans didn’t like the comments Byron Cowart made regarding the possible ceremony for Brady in Week 4. We can easily say that Damon isn’t alone among Pats fans who still love Brady.

“They could’ve kept him,” Damon added. “I don’t begrudge that guy. I want him to go win another Super Bowl.”

Well, Damon made a pick and some fans may blast him. He is a fan of TB12 and they can’t change it.
