Patriots’ Sony Michel Opens Up About Injury Troubles

The New England Patriots packed the roster with talent. Head coach Bill Belichick selected an excellent group in the 2021 NFL Draft. He also signed a group of talented free agents. What about all the players who missed the chance to make the playoffs last season? Sony Michel is one of them and he suffered a bad injury.

Michel struggled in his NFL career. He hit the rock bottom on so many occasions. If you ask the veteran, he will say that this failure will actually make him a better player.

“It made me a better player, a better person, especially knowing how to take care of your body, trying to get your body back to where it was, if not even better,” Michel said Saturday. “And being a better person, and knowing how to deal with a little bit of adversity and trying to come back from some of those little setbacks.”

These setbacks took place in 2020. Michel played in just nine games and wasn’t 100%. That’s not all. The Patriots also placed him on the COVID-19 list. All those health issued had a huge impact on his future with the team.

The veteran missed Weeks 4-10. Damien Harris took the opportunity and got the best of it. He was the best player to accept the challenge and this secured his spot in New England.

“Injuries come and go. It comes with the profession. It comes with the game,” Michel said. “I take the good with the bad. I appreciate it. It helps me learn what I have to do to be a professional and that’s what I did.”

Michel has a big role in the passing game, but his inconsistency is giving Bill Belichick a big headache. This is the biggest problem Michel has in his resume.

The 2021 NFL preseason is the best opportunity for Michel to show off and stay around for a while. He has to perform at a high level every week. What’s next on the list?
