Patriots Star Stephon Gilmore Responds To Latest Trade Rumors

The NBA world can’t stop talking about Stephon Gilmore and all the trade rumors surrounding him. Things got really bad and Gilmore missed the voluntary portion of spring workouts. He may not join his team in training camp, too.

It looks like Gilmore is fed up with this… The former Defensive Player of the Year decided to break the silence.

In a recent phone call with NFL insider Josina Anderson, Gilmore talked about his current situation. He said he isn’t trying to push for a trade. The veteran cornerback just wants the Patriots to give him the right amount of money. Yes, Gilmore wants a thick paycheck this time.

“I just want what I’m worth, however that plays out,” Gilmore told Anderson. “Every player should be paid what they’re worth. That’s just how it is.”

Stephon Gilmore will put an end to the trade rumors

ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler wrote that Gilmore’s trade market isn’t that strong. This makes perfect sense because Gilmore and his team didn’t do anything to force a trade.

When will they seal the deal? Gilmore really hopes that this will happen in the near future.

“Hopefully, we can find some common ground and get it situated,” Gilmore said. “I just know what I bring to the table and my style of play. Right now, I’m just trying to focus on myself and make sure I’m good mentally and physically.”

The veteran shared an update on his health. He underwent a surgery in the offseason and missed a lot of time. Here’s some good news.

Gilmore feels great and he is ready to hit the field again. The All-Pro cornerback is determined to play his best football and the Patriots should take this into consideration.

“I feel stronger than I’ve ever felt since the surgery. I’ve been running a lot, building full speed.”

Training camp is a few weeks away and the Patriots will probably boost their negotiations in the next period.

Gilmore will earn $7 million in the upcoming season. He wants more than that. Maybe head coach Bill Belichick will give him a better deal.
