A Surprising Development May Protect Bill Belichick From Seeing a Major Blow to His Patriots Legacy

Bill Belichick is the best head coach in NFL history and his legacy is strong. He doesn’t even need another Super Bowl win to keep this title. Belichick can retire today and rest knowing he is the best of the best. Coach B is also a general manager with the New England Patriots. He really is the greatest of all time.

Belichick deserves a lot of credit for everything he has accomplished in his career. He has been part of the Patriots for two decades. This leads us all the way to some of his questionable personnel moves. That’s what experts say.

It seems like one of these moves develops perfectly.

Bill Belichick cemented his legacy

The New England Patriots had a chance to add an excellent receiver in the 2019 NFL Draft. Belichick has the final pick of the first round and he could have selected A.J. Brown, DK Metcalf, and Deebo Samuel. Well, the Patriots head coach decided to get N’Keal Harry with the 32dn overall.

Was this a bad decision?

Harry suffered many injuries in his rookie campaign. He didn’t get Tom Brady’s attention. His second season with the Patriots was even worse. There were many setbacks too. Bad production and frustrating moments. Brown and Metcalf became young stars and Samuel found his spot in San Francisco.

The young receiver had 45 catches for 414 yards and four touchdowns in 21 games. Belichick was hit with a big dose of criticism for his inability to get impact receivers. Coach B wasted top-100 drafts on players like Bethel Johnson (45th overall, 2003), Chad Jackson (36th overall, 2006), Brandon Tate (83rd overall, 2009), Taylor Price (90th overall, 2010), and Aaron Dobson (59th overall, 2013).

What happened next? Harry demanded a trade through his agent.

There’s another catch. Harry got off to an impressive start in his third training camp. He made a 30-yard, back-shoulder catch in a one-on-one drill. Patriots fans liked this.

“I feel like I’ve gotten off to a pretty good start,” Harry said, per ESPN. “Obviously there’s room for improvement in certain areas, but I’m pretty happy with the start I’ve gotten so far, and I’m looking forward to keeping that momentum.”
