Bill Belichick Addresses on Mac Jones’ Inspiring Patriots Debut

The New England Patriots celebrated a 22-13 win over the Washington Football Team. NFL fans got to watch the new-look Patriots team hit the field after a disappointing season. Head coach Bill Belichick got to watch rookie quarterback Mac Jones in action. I guess the Patriots head coach liked what he saw from the first-rounder.

NFL experts would agree that Jones had an excellent preseason against Washington. Patriots fans chanted and his teammates had nothing but words of praise for him. Belichick liked the performance, but he is a man of few words. There’s a little something he would improve in each and every player. Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time, and Belichick always had something to improve in his game. Hilarious, right?

Mike Reiss from ESPN has Belichick’s words on his rookie:

“Some good things, some things we can improve on,” the head coach said. “That’s true for everybody.”

Bill Belichick, Cam Newton praise Mac Jones

The final stat line from the preseason opener is not really special. He went 13-of-19 with zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. The team had two field goals with the rookie kicker under center.

Well, the rookie quarterback should have had one touchdown pass in his debut with the Patriots. Jones had a 34-yard pass on his first drive that Kristian Wilkerson couldn’t take in the end zone. Wilkerson admitted that he should have brought in a touchdown. Well, it didn’t happen.

Loyal Patriots fans chanted for Jones to come back in action in the quarter. It didn’t work but they have to be happy with what they got from the rookie. The Patriots celebrated a big win and that’s the only thing that matters.

Cam Newton was impressed by Jones’ performance. The rookie prepared really well for the game. It seems like Jones has everything it takes to take Newton’s job under center. The 2015 NFL MVP great words for the rookie and this may motivate him to do better in the next few games. He has to keep his job. Let’s see what happens later in the season.
