Cam Newton Roasts Eagles ‘Glitter’ LB After Epic Preseason Win

The New England Patriots had a joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles. One of the Eagles linebackers decided to trash a Patriots player. Well, it’s Cam Newton and now he roasts Eagles linebacker K’Von Wallace in the most brilliant way.

During Thursday’s practice, Wallace said Newton was the “Checkdown King” for taking shorter throws rather than going down the football field.

Wallace did this from the sidelines. He isn’t the starter for the Eagles, and he wasn’t set to hit the field with the Patriots quarterback during the session.

Who is laughing now?

Newton was the last to laugh as he slammed Wallace on a TD pass to Jakobi Meyers in the 35-0 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

That’s not. Newton gave Wallace a big headache. He roasted the 24-year-old during the postgame presser and delivered an insulting nickname for the young player.

So, as you may be guessing, Newton was really happy following the win. He took the podium at Lincoln Financial Field to take questions from the media.

Reporters asked Newton about Wallace and his heckling. First, the veteran acted as if he didn’t know Wallace. Then he asked what jersey number Wallace wore.

The reporter answered: “No. 42,” to which Newton said, “oh, that’s Glitter. He was out there. Tell his coach to let him play man-to-man then.”

The reporter didn’t ask much about the meaning of this nickname, but one of his colleagues wanted to know more. Newton was more than happy to offer his explanation.

“He was cheerleading a lot on the sidelines,” he said. “Cheerleaders usually have glitter on.”

Newton had a really good reason to celebrate last night. He played two series against Philadelphia’s defense that played without many of its starters, including an entire defensive line. But, he did do his job.

The Patriots are all ready for the big season and Newton had an excellent performance. Head coach Bill Belichick has little to no concerns regarding his current roster. But, we’d really want to know more about the starting quarterback. Is Newton the guy? What about rookie Mac Jones?
