Former LeBron James Teammate Slams Charles Barkley After His GOAT Claim
NBA teams are getting ready for another season and everyone is so focused on LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. The GOAT debate is on again and fans can’t stop talking about this. Well, Charles Barkley fired another GOAT claim. Will you agree with him?
Barkley appeared on HBO’s “Back on the Record” with Bob Costas. He talked about the greatest basketball player of all time. His answer didn’t come as a surprise and yes, Barkley used the opportunity to dismiss the Lakers superstar.
“Jordan… In fairness, I don’t even put LeBron past Kobe, let’s get that out of the way. … LeBron has stacked his teams, let’s be realistic. … The struggle is part of your legacy,” Barkley said.
This is a common topic in the NBA. Current and former NBA players have made a pick and most of them would agree that LeBron is the GOAT. One of his former teammates, Richard Jefferson, defended LeBron.
“In all fairness Chuck is right,” Jefferson said, per ClutchPoints. “Lebron didn’t get drafted to a team with Shaq like Kobe. Cavs never found the Pippen in Bron’s first 8 years because he was too good they never drafted that high. Ps… Charles got drafted to a team with Dr.J, Moses Malone and 2 other Hall of Famers. I see his point though.”
Charles Barkley had a blunt GOAT claim
Jordan, LeBron, and Kobe are great players. They had unique career development and NBA fans loved them. The world will remember them as the best to ever hit the basketball court.
Who is a hypocrite now?
LeBron has accomplished a lot in his professional career. Sometimes he carried his teams on his back. MJ played alongside Scottie Pippen and this gave him an advantage. Pippen was one of the best to ever join the NBA. He was also a top-tier player.
Kobe played with big Shaquille O’Neal. In the first quarter of his pro career, Kobe wasn’t the best player on his team. In the later championship wins, Kobe worked with Pau Gasol.
LeBron worked with Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Kyrie Irving, and Anthony Davis. We can’t write him off just because he played with other stars.
