Insider Shares Harsh Update on Lakers Starter Future With Franchise

The Los Angeles Lakers will probably make a few changes to the starting lineup. Wonder why? General Manager Rob Pelinka brought a lot of veterans to Los Angeles and some of these players will earn a spot on the starting five. Anthony Davis may be willing to play more center following the addition of Russell Westbrook. The team will make some changes and one Lakers starter may have a different future.

Davis is not a fan of this position. Dwight Howard and Marc Gasol will have a chance to get it. As you may be guessing, NBA experts still discuss the center position. It’s probably one of the most interesting positions to watch for this offseason.

The Lakers starter may not join the team in the future

Howard did a decent job coming off the bench for the Lakers in the 2019-20 NBA season He had great performance and Vogel gave him a good role. The Spanish native was a starter but ended up on the bench. Andre Drummond changed the game.

Drummond left the Lakers to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers. I guess Gasol is the favorite to start games for the purple and gold. Well, Marc Stein issued an interesting report on Gasol and it is related to his future with the Lakers.

Will Gasol sign with another team? Will he retire? There are several options for the former All-Star.

“I’m hearing that Marc Gasol is not a lock to return to the Lakers, even after Gasol said following Spain’s quarterfinal loss to the United States in the Olympics that he intends to play out the final year of the two-year deal he signed with Los Angeles,” Stein wrote.

Gasol was one of the best big men in the NBA. The veteran is a three-time All-Star and he was the Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. However, he is no longer in his prime and these days are long in the past. Gasol wasn’t really effective for the Lakers last year. He averaged a career-low 5.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Oh, he made 40.1% of his three-point shots.
