Josh McDaniels Has Interesting Comment About Rookie QB Mac Jones

NFL analysts say that Mac Jones is the best quarterback prospect from the 2021 NFL Draft. The New England Patriots selected him the 15th overall. Jones has a really great chance to replace Cam Newton at one point of the regular season. Head coach Bill Belichick likes his both quarterback options and he will probably make the best decision. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has been watching Mac Jones play and he has something to say.

Let’s just say his comment was pretty hilarious.

I guess Jones is not getting the rookie treatment in Foxboro. During his training camp press conference on Wednesday, McDaniels answered a few questions about his rookie. The offensive coordinator opted for a more comedic approach.

“He’s good at getting yelled at,” McDaniels said, per Pats insider Phil Perry.

Jones had the chance to learn a lot from Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. The rookie has to try really hard to get used to the professional game though. Unlike other first rounders, it seems like Jones won’t get the starting job based on his draft number.

There’s a strong quarterback battle between Jones and veteran Cam Newton. The Patriots coaching staff is pretty positive about their starter for Week 1. Head coach Belichick talked about this on so many occasions. He was pretty serious about his choice. Newton will be starting games with the team.

“Cam’s our starting quarterback. I think I said that,” Belichick said, per New England insider Mike D’Abate of FanNation.

Newton may start Week 1, but this may change later in the season. If Newton has the passing struggles he had in his debut with the team, Belichick will put Johnson under center. Johnson will get the big job sooner than expected.

Jones had had some great time in practice. He gets the best of each session with the team. Let’s see how will the rookie handle the pressure in September. He has so much on his mind now.
