Lakers May Target Signing a Former NBA Finals MVP

The Los Angeles Lakers signed Russell Westbrook through a trade deal with the Washington Wizards. The franchise added Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and the No.22 pick to the trade package. LA is getting Westbrook and two second-round picks. Well, it looks like the Lakers front office will try to target a former NBA Finals MVP.

Getting Westbrook was the first big step for the Lakers. They are coming off a bad season. The Phoenix Suns eliminated the Lakers in the first round of the playoffs. This happened right after LA won the championship inside the bubble in Orlando.

The Lakers target the NBA Finals MVP for a reason

What’s next on the list? The Lakers will probably add a few role players to strengthen the roster. They have already attracted the attention of many NBA veterans. Some of these players would love to get the veteran minimum and get a chance to win a ring with the purple and gold.

Is Andre Iguodala a good target for the Lakers?

Since the front office got Westbrook, they have shifted the focus towards shaping the roster around the newly-formed Big 3. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Westbrook look really well, but they do need a few more options.

This will be another busy offseason. Maybe Rob Pelinka will sign proven veterans inexpensive deals in free agency. Brad Turner of The LA Times believes that Iguodala may be the best option for the Lakers right now.

The Lakers need shooting. One name that is coming up is Patty Mills. He can shoot the lights out and would be great off the bench. Wayne Ellington is another shooter who has interest in rejoining the Lakers. Trevor Ariza and Andre Iguodala are veteran wings who are candidates. Carmelo Anthony is interested, just waiting on a call from the Lakers when free agency opens Monday,’ Turner wrote.

Iguodala is a three-time NBA champion after all. We all know what that means. Let’s see how will the Lakers handle this opportunity. They have several options on the table right now. Is Iguodala making his way to LA?
